Balrampur Chini Mills, the country's second largest sugar manufacturing company, has signed contracts to supply 84.8 mln ltr of ethanol after the first round of bidding for the ethanol tender floated by oil marketing companies for 2019-20 (Dec-Nov),
two officials from the company said.
In the next round of bidding for the ethanol tender, the sugar mill expects to get contracts for supply of 40-50 mln ltr ethanol. The Uttar Pradesh-based mill has a combined capacity to produce 1.42 bln ltr of the biofuel in one sugar season and the total crushing capacity of 10 sugar mills is 76,500 tn cane per day.
Balrampur Chini Mills, had started a new distillery with 160 kl per day capacity in Lakhimpur Kheri district of Uttar Pradesh . The company already has three distilleries in the state with a combined production capacity of 360 kl per day, and the new addition will take the daily capacity to 520 kl.
The company, which has 10 sugar mills in Uttar Pradesh, uses the entire molasses it produces as feedstock for its existing distilleries to produce ethanol for supply to oil marketing companies for blending with petrol.
